They were giving these away stating that they took out the hard drive and that I would need to purchase a new hard drive and install an operating system. I found out from everymac. I have tried holding command R at the start up chime but it still goes to the folder with a? I can hold down Option once I hear the chime and can get a mouse cursor arrow but that is it.

Re edits to posts, if you click on the Edit symbol the notebook and pencil next to the 'Reply' link of your own post within 15 mins you can edit. Any thoughts? I basically want to replace the TB I have now which is running at rpm with my new one, as well as switch everything from my GB hard drive which is almost completely full to this new TB, and in doing so put the operating system onto the GB hard drive essentially swapping the two.

I assumed this would be accomplished by designating one of the hard drives as the one with the OS and the other as the one without.

I am not, however, too sure as to how to accomplish this other than perhaps somehow by creating a system image. Help would be much appreciated. Did this solve your problem? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help.
