How did you run bootcamp. You have to run it from an administrator command prompt as in step 3.

I did run the command prompt as an administrator, though I couldn't figure out how to get a right click before I got Apple's touchpad driver installed, so I launched it in Task Manager and selected the Run as Administrator option.

The fact that the Nvidia driver didn't install suggests that something is different. Mind posting a msinfo Here's mine. Looks like there is a bit of variation in the reported OS name though the version is the same.
That may have something to do with our different results.

Yep, I haven't encountered problems with any of the bit Apple drivers, including the video, though I haven't used it extensively since upgrading to Windows I checked and the date on the Nvidia driver on my system is Oct 13, It's interesting that the bit driver installation was so much more problematic - did you try using setup.
I'd normally be inclined to re-upgrade to the bit version, but your experience is a bit of a deterrent.
Hopefully Nvidia will improve their driver soon.

If you bootcamp your control windows in Windows and go to Mac -- Uninstall a program, you will see the for current applications listed at the top of the list. More than mid these will be the new drivers that were 2010 by the BootCamp driver update.

Once again I am very disappointed with Apple's forced obsolescence policy. I'm disappointed that Apple has chosen not to support Windows 8 on my Mac Pro. I already have it installed and running fine installed overtop of a previous XP Boot Camp partitionexcept for a problem where the wireless connection is very slow compared to Ethernet or OS X, but I'd rather have the additional features and functionality of the Boot Camp software.
Trying to run the installer provided just gives an error dialog saying my machine isn't supported.
If anyone finds a way to force the installer to continue, please post it here.
